Ladies Street
The Ladies Market is along Tung Choi Street. It is the most well known street market in Hong Kong. It includes 100 stalls of bargain clothing, accessories and souvenirs. Don’t get fooled by the name, this street is also available for men. It sells clothing for men, women and children in addition to accessories, toys and electronics. You can pretty much find anything there! Originally, Mong Kok was located from Argyle Street to Shuntang Street. But it was later extended further south to Dundas Street due to its huge popularity. Of course, any "designer labels" are certainly fake but you get to bargain with the sellers. Huge discounts can be easily negotiated even though its price is already a lot lower than other places. This is definitely a busy market and navigating through the crowds can be quite exhausting. However, I think it is all worth it when everything there is extremely cheaper than anywhere else in Hong Kong. I think this is why Ladies Street is the first place everybody thinks of when they hear the word "Hong Kong"! The section of Tung Choi Street where the market operates is pedestrianized. Vehicles are prohibited between 4pm to midnight on Mondays to Saturdays. Vehicles are prohibited between 12 noon to 10pm on Sundays and public holidays.
How to get there:
As Mong Kok is known to be the most crowded place in Hong Kong, the best choice to get there is by the MTR. If you would like to visit Hong Kong, take the train and stop at Mong Kok station. Choose Exit E2, walk along Nelson Street for two blocks. If you don't want to take the MTR, there are of course other ways to go there...although they are more inconviencent and difficult to find. Another way is to take Bus 1, 1A, 2, 6 or 9 from Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry pier and get off at Nelson Street station.
