If you are worrying about how to get to places, don't worry. Hong Kong is a city with efficient transportation.
Mass Transit Railway (MTR)
Let's start off with the MTR. This is the most used transportation in Hong Kong.
This transportation device is known as the Mass Transit Railway (MTR). It is the transportation that is used the most in Hong Kong. It costs less than buses and taxis. Each line has a different colour. They represent different MTR lines. At the end of each MTR line, everyone must get off the train to change to another line. This is called Interchange Station. The MTR announces every station in 3 languages- Cantonese, Mandarin and English. If you don't understand these three languages, don't worry! There are signs in the MTR that tell you which station is next. If you are in the train and you don't remember the MTR map, there are maps of the MTR everywhere. You'll definitely be able to find one.

How to Pay:
To get in the MTR, you must have a card. Most people in Hong Kong have an octopus card. It is is a reusable contactless stored value smart card for making electronic payments in online or offline systems in Hong Kong. However, if you are a tourist who is staying here for around 2 weeks, I would not recommend buying an octopus card. Instead, each station has a few "Single Journey Ticket Issuing Machine". First, you select your destination station. The cost will pop off on the screen. The cost is different and is cheaper if you are a child/senior. You get a different card which says "Concessionary Single Journey Ticket". As soon as you pay, a card will slip out at the bottom.

Taxi
There are three different types of taxi. You can easily tell them apart by the colours. There are blue, green and red taxis are Hong Kong. The red taxis are called The Urban Red Taxi. The Urban Red Taxi is a company that operates throughout Hong Kong including the airport and Hong Kong Disneyland, (except Tung Chung Road and roads in South Lantau). The green taxis are New Territory taxis are fundamentally confined to rural areas in the New Territories, the airport, and Hong Kong Disneyland but are permitted to serve certain locations in the urban area. Blue Taxis operate only on Lantau Island (including the airport and Hong Kong Disneyland).
Taxis are be found anywhere. There are taxi stations all around Hong Kong. If you goto the Hong Kong Taxi website, you'll be able to find phone numbers of taxis in different places. All you have to do is call them and schedule a time and place. As soon as you step in the taxi, the driver will press a button that is right next to him and it will start calculating the cost. The cost increases every few seconds. Taxis are known to be expensive. However, they are more comfortable compared to the MTR as the MTR is crowded 24/7.
I have lived in Hong Kong for so many years. However, I have never seen a blue taxi.. I guess it's time to goto Lantau Island and explore more about it!
